Started with nothing.
Five things tell it.
A notice in shul
After his rebbe pointed him to plumbing, he moved from a one-bedroom in Boro Park to Monsey and put up an ad in the local shul. That was the whole marketing plan.
A taxi to the corner
The first customer called. No car. So he took a taxi and got out at the corner.
"...so the guy wouldn't see that I didn't have my own car."
Borrowed tools
No tools either. He borrowed them for that first job, and he took every job that came after it.
Bought on credit
A job needed a tool that cost $100. He got it on credit from the supply shop, did the job, and made $50.
"Now I owned that tool."
